YOGA WITH ME

I love your curiosity!

Below you will find a presentation of my services

Private Yoga

Individually tailored sessions for better health, personal development, & resilience

It's better to start with what you can right now, & take one baby step at a time, than to wait for the perfect moment to arrive, because it probably never will

Private yoga is for those with stress, trauma & health issues who wish to receive individualized guidance & support on their journey towards better health, personal development & resilience. These sessions are tailored to your needs, taking into consideration your current capacity & situation in life, as well as your requests.

♥️

Foundational for your best health & growth toward your best, authentic self is your inner experience of safety, love & support. When you are in survival mode - either stressed or overwhelmed (the trauma state) - your body is focusing on keeping you alive in the present moment. Even though your body is doing exactly what it is supposed to, it comes at a cost - your health & well-being. These are facts based on how the nervous system operates, & it applies to all human beings.

The good news is that there is a lot you can do to support & rewire your nervous system towards better health & resilience! My intention with these sessions is to help you help yourself in the best possible way, both in the here & now, & long term.

We will make an individualized plan & create the sessions together. I will help you implement positive, sustainable lifestyle changes, taking a holistic approach, focusing on nervous system regulation. Sessions will be mostly practical, focusing on your own felt experiences. They may include (for example) simple somatic exercises for self-regulation in your daily life, gentle yoga practices & philosophy, theoretical knowledge & understanding of stress, trauma & the nervous system, or a combination of these. We can work with understanding & managing symptoms such as (for example) restlessness, anxiety, pain, emotional dysregulation, low energy, numbness, brain fog, sleep issues & difficulties with impulse control, to name a few. We can explore thoughts, feelings, sensations, survival strategies, self-compassion, boundary setting, & a lot more!

We will seamlessly weave body, mind, soul & biology in these sessions. Private yoga is the best way to experience & benefit from my integrative yoga, & an opportunity to receive science-based knowledge & tools for sustainable health. If you would like to read more about me & the work that I do, you are welcome to do so here

Last but not least: You do not need any previous yoga experience. You are welcome exactly as you are.

Trauma Adapted Yoga

Science based yoga & somatic practices to support & complement conventional health care treatments for mental health issues, trauma, & common psychiatric disorders

It is my opinion that today's conventional health care system miss out on a few pieces in the prevention & treatment of physical & mental health issues. Two of these are somatic practices & a holistic approach. It is my strong belief that, by incorporating integrative work with the body, mind, soul, & biology,we can significantly improve public health & make our world a better place.

I am a certified teacher in Trauma Adapted Yoga (TAY-300), with a particular focus on trauma, ADHD, & common comorbidities. I work to offer Trauma Adapted Yoga within & as a complement to conventional health care.

Trauma Adapted Yoga (TAY)

Trauma adapted yoga (TAY) is an evidence-based form of yoga designed to support & complement conventional healthcare for mental health issues & disorders. It is based on trauma research, neurobiology, evidence-based yoga therapy, & body-oriented methods & has been developed in collaboration with leading researchers & experts within these fields. The method is a Swedish adaptation of trauma-informed yoga, originally developed to address the needs of individuals with complex trauma & PTSD.

TAY is specifically tailored for patients with trauma histories, including those diagnosed with severe mental illness, & accounts for the neurological, psychological, & physical challenges common in these populations. TAY can be adapted to the participants' current state of health & challenges, & is customized to meet the specific requirements of clinical settings in psychiatric care. It is also a safe alternative to regular yoga classes for individuals that for any reason cannot or do not want to attend those. TAY acknowledges the common biological changes in the autonomic & central nervous systems in patients within psychiatric care, & modifies traditional yoga practices to be safe, inclusive, & supportive.

TAY consists of gentle practices that train the participants in self-managing symptoms & reactions that are common for overwhelming stress, trauma ,& common psychiatric disorders such as PTSD, anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, schizofrenia, fatigue, & eating-disorders as well as ADHD, addiction-treatment, & self-harming behaviour. It aims to foster a healthier relationship with one's body, encourage emotional regulation, & promote rehabilitation.

TAY serves as a complementary therapeutic practice that can support trauma recovery, reduce psychiatric symptoms, & enhance conventional treatment interventions in psychiatric settings. It also addresses the stress management needs of healthcare staff. TAY is one of the resources mentioned in the Swedish version of Bessel van der Kolk's book The Body Keeps The Score - Brain, Mind & Body in the Healing of Trauma.

There is ongoing research in Sweden & internationally in the United States regarding the effects of TAY as complementary care in Swedish forensic psychiatry, Swedish child- & adolescent psychiatry (BUP), & American child- & adolescent psychiatry. TAY is used by HM Prison & Probation Service & within prisons worldwide through Prison Yoga Project. Swedish organisations that have implemented TAY are Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS), Humana, 2nd Chance Stödboende & Riksföreningen mot incest & andra sexuella övergrepp i barndomen (Rise), among others.

You can read more about TAY, including current Swedish scientific research, here.

Key Principles Of Class:

Class is dynamic & at the same time soft, gentle & slow paced. It holds plenty of time for meditation, breathing exercises & rest, but may also contain physically & mentally challenging parts. Yoga nidra classes are practiced lying down in stillness.

Class is an invitation for you to join me in a practice that I guide you through, but you are your own best teacher. Listen to the cues you receive from your body, mind & breath in each moment & honour these. Let them guide you through your practice & follow your intuition, making this practice your own. Accept your boundaries. Let go of perfectionism. Pause & rest as often as you would like. All to your best degree possible. There is no goal to achieve, no right or wrong. This is an opportunity for you to explore what is present & to practice resting into your present moment experience with compassion & without judgment. Allow your practice to nourish your body, mind & soul.

I hope that you will leave class feeling more grounded, peaceful, present, grateful & connected.

If you would like to read more about me & my yoga, you are welcome to do so here.

Namaste.

Biology of Trauma®

A science-based, holistic model that strategically & efficiently addresses stored trauma in the body, & as a result accelerates the trauma healing journey

For this reason, I am training to become a Biology of Trauma® Professional. I incorporate these teachings in my yoga.

♥️

Biology of Trauma®

Biology of Trauma® is a science-based model that addresses stored trauma in the body. It includes holistic application of the latest in neuroscience, epigenetics, attachment theory, & more. The model is developed by Dr. Aimie Apigian & addresses all three essential pillars to strategically & efficiently address stored trauma in the body & as a result, accelerate the trauma healing journey:

1) Somatic work (originating from trauma treatment/therapy models Somatic Experiencing® & NeuroAffective Touch® i.a.),

2) Parts work (work with the mind) (based on psychotherapeutic model Internal Family Systems®), &

3) Biology work to support the human biology.

Biology of Trauma® Professionals are trained in identifying which nervous system state a client is in in order to take the most effective approach to bringing the client to a regulated state, & to their best health & best selves. Because Biology of Trauma® Professionals understand that healing begins with themselves, they walk through all of the exercises & trainings for themselves first in order to be their most well-resourced selves for clients & to better guide clients through their own holistic, healing work.
