About Me

A passionate yoga teacher, specialized in science-based practices for stress, trauma & health issues

With a warm, humble, & open heart I inspire, guide, & support you on your journey towards better health, personal development, & resilience.

Through the practice of integrative yoga I help you cultivate inner safety, love, & support. This is foundational for growth toward your best, authentic self, & your best health.

♥️

Safety, support, & compassion lie at the core of my teachings. My intuition & creativity is always present, as is my curiosity & dedication. I merge modern science with ancient yoga philosophy, focusing on nervous system regulation.

My yoga is soft & gentle, yet powerful. Always slow-paced. It holds plenty of space to tune in to the body. While it opens up for deeper work & vulnerability, it is also joyful & playful. There is nothing you have to do, no perfectionism. What is most important is your felt sense & inner experience.

I am passionate about sharing the knowledge & experience I have gained with you, aiming to contribute to a better world. I welcome you exactly as you are, & I encourage you to develop your own practice, in which you are your own best teacher.

♥️

I was high-functioning for many years. A "good girl" who was high-performing, but did not feel safe inside. Chaotic years during adolescence forced me to shut down, & I disconnected from my self in order to survive. The inner chaos I was experiencing, I coped with by perfectionism. I made it through school, performed extremely well at university, & continued to be high-performing at work. It lasted for some time, until it all started to fall apart. Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in. Stability is not built on unsolid ground. I was diagnosed with acute stress reaction & later exhaustion syndrome (a Swedish medical diagnosis). I entered into a new phase of my life. A phase in which all of my survival strategies & coping mechanisms came to a head, as my body pulled the emergency break. That is both the worst & the best thing that has happened to me.

The exhaustion was the beginning of my journey within, on which I turned most of my life upside down. Determined to understand myself & those around me, & live my life from a place of authenticity, I slowly started my journey forwards. In this process I was recommended a yoga studio, where I was introduced to the realm of yoga. There, I was welcomed exactly as I was, with a warmth & an open heart that I hadn't experienced before. It was like coming home. I eventually trained to become a yoga teacher & quit my job in the field of law. Taking one baby step at a time, I became self-employed, & continued my yoga teacher trainings. Partly because I wanted to heal myself, partly because I had found my passion, & wanted to work with it.

My journey forward has been full of twists & turns. I have tried short-cuts (did not work well) & gotten stuck several times along the road. At times the journey has been really painful. Along the road I was also diagnosed with ADHD. But I have always gotten back on track. I have gained loads of experience & insights that I would never want to be without. They are part of who I am today. My own experience from living with trauma, ADHD, exhaustion & health issues, together with my personality, is my biggest asset. Having navigated the health care system myself has given me invaluable experiences.

My own journey through life into the world of yoga & personal development is invaluable in my work with others. I have a strong drive to understand how humans function & what our core needs are, & also address the root cause of problems & health issues instead of just tackling symptoms. I am constantly reminded of what an amazing tool yoga is for life. For that, I am forever grateful.

It is my opinion that today's conventional health care system miss out on a few pieces in the prevention & treatment of physical & mental health issues. Two of these are somatic practices & a holistic approach. It is my strong belief that, by incorporating integrative work with the body, mind, soul, & biology, we can significantly improve public health & make our world a better place.

My mission is to guide people into a felt sense of safety & calm aliveness so that they can thrive, not just survive. The ability to self-regulate & be present are important aspects of well-being. For these skills to develop we need to work with the body. Other important aspects include diet, relationships, & the experience of being part of something bigger, to name a few. The work that I do is integrative & based on a holistic life philosophy. In the larger perspective, this means reversing the negative global development that is happening, & contributing to a safer, better, & healthier world.

TESTIMONIALS

Anna-Karin Kerslow, July 2024

Din varma ödmjuka ton under klasserna.
